Experience

Some experience required!

In this course, you will elevate your ceramic work to new artistic heights by delving into various techniques to enhance the surface of your wheel-thrown or hand-built creations.

Throughout the class, you'll explore a variety of surface decoration techniques, including sgraffito, mishima, slip trailing, and more, using materials such as tape, wax, underglaze, transfer sheets, and an array of carving tools.
By introducing these tools and techniques at different stages of creation, you'll see the impact they can have on your work and overall creative process. By the end of the class, you'll have discovered techniques that resonate with you and enhance your artistic journey, helping you find your own unique voice through the exploration of new tools and methods.

Open studio
Open studio hours will be offered every week, after the first week of class plus an additional few open studios after the session has ended to complete glazing. Open Studio will be non-instructional studio time for enrolled students to work on their projects and will be offered at no additional cost. Enrollment for open studio days will open one week prior.

Supplies
Price does not include clay or tools. We only allow students to use one of the 4 clay bodies we carry in our shop: Cinco Rojo, Cino Blanco, Buffalo Wallow and Speckled Buff. If you would like us to provide you with a bag of clay and / or a pottery toolkit, those can be purchased now or on our Supplies Page at any point in time and we will have them ready for you on your first day.
