Experience

Nerikomi is a Japanese-inspired ceramic technique that uses colored clay layered, sliced, and assembled into patterns within the clay itself. In this class, students will learn how to stain clay, build patterned slabs, and shape them into functional or decorative pieces while preserving the design through every step. This class is ideal for anyone interested in surface design, pattern, and a more intentional, graphic approach to handbuilding. All experience levels welcome!

Open studio
Open studio hours will be offered every week after the first week of class plus an additional few open studios after the session has ended to complete glazing. Open Studio will be non-instructional studio time for enrolled students to work on their projects and is offered at no additional cost to students. Enrollment for open studio days will open one week prior.

Supplies
Price does not include clay, tools or mason stains. We only allow students to use one of the 4 clay bodies we carry in our shop: Cinco Rojo, Cino Blanco, Buffalo Wallow and Speckled Buff. If you would like us to provide you with a bag of clay and / or a pottery toolkit, those can be purchased now or on our Supplies Page at any point in time and we will have them ready for you on your first day.
