Hand Built Ceramic Purses

Clay, but make it fashion. In this one-day workshop, participants will create a one-of-a-kind ceramic purse using tar paper templates and slab-building techniques. Inspired by the construction of sewn handbags, we’ll transform flat clay slabs into dimensional forms while covering pattern making, seams, handles, and structural details.
Then it’s time to make it your own - add cut-outs, handles, and sculptural embellishments. Think handbag meets sculpture: playful, strange, fancy, or fabulously impractical. Along the way, we’ll explore tar paper as a versatile tool for creating all kinds of functional and sculptural ceramic forms.
Once you leave, don't worry about your pot! We will finish it, fire it, and glaze it n your choice of our in-house glazes :) We’ll send an email when they’re ready - you can typically expect them 2-3 weeks after your date.
