Experience

Intermediate

In this class, the first 6 weeks will focus on creating valuable hand building tools that align with each individual's visual voice. Come with ideas of various textures, stamps, templates and more you'd like to create. Once those tools have been developed, the curriculum will focus more on the traditional construction of slab-built pieces, all with details created by utilizing your own custom tools. Your instructor Katie will also go over various surface design techniques, such as texture work, Sgraffito, and Mishima. We highly recommend you bring your own sketches or print outs of your favorite motifs, patterns and images to start your process!

Open studio
Open studio hours will be offered every week, after the first week of class plus an additional few open studios after the session has ended to complete glazing. Open Studio will be non-instructional studio time for enrolled students to work on their projects and will be offered at no additional cost to students. Enrollment for open studio days will open one week prior.

Supplies
Price does not include clay or tools. We only allow students to use one of the 4 clay bodies we carry in our shop: Cinco Rojo, Cino Blanco, Buffalo Wallow and Seckled Buff. If you would like us to provide you with a bag of clay and / or a pottery toolkit, those can be purchased now or on our Supplies Page at any point in time and we will have them ready for you on your first day.
