Broads abroad

About Broads Abroad

Broads Abroad is a travel-based learning experience designed for members of the Club House community and beyond. These immersive group trips bring ceramic artists together to explore pottery traditions and contemporary ceramics in cities around the world.

Our studio believes that great art is shaped by experience, perspective, and place. Through Broads Abroad, we aim to:

- Learn the history and cultural roots of pottery abroad

- Visit renowned studios, museums, and workshops

- Engage with local artists and craftspeople

- Spark creativity through exploration and shared experience

Each trip is carefully curated to balance structured learning, artistic inspiration, and time to connect as a creative community.

2025 Broads Abroad

In the fall we are heading to two separate cities: Amsterdam, Netherlands and Cortona, Italy.

The trip to Amsterdam will dive into the rich world of Dutch pottery. Highlights included a self-guided tour of the Royal Delft Museum and production studio, visits to local ceramic studios, and time to explore the city’s vibrant art scene.

In Cortona, Italy, students will have the opportunity to create with clay in a private, light-soaked studio in the historic town center. Activities outside of the studio include guided art history tours, olive oil tastings, multiple museum visits, and a steamy dip in a nearby Terme (hot spring).

Want in on the fun?

Broads Abroad is more than a trip — it’s an evolving program and a growing community. We’re planning future excursions to other cities with deep ceramic traditions and active studio scenes, including places where we can build ongoing relationships with artists, institutions, and makers.
