In this class, students will explore the versatile world of coil building. Whether you are brand new to clay or wanting to refresh knowledge of basic coiling techniques to create larger forms. In this class, we will cover how to create symmetrical and asymmetrical forms as well as combining traditional techniques with contemporary design. In addition, we will explore different approaches to surface design and texture such as Sgraffito, subtractive/ additive design, and many others. There are endless possibilities to what you can create and we highly recommend you bring your own sketches or ideas to draw inspiration from!
Open studio hours will be offered every week, after the first week of class plus an additional few open studios after the session has ended to complete glazing. This will be non-instructional studio time for enrolled students to work on their projects. Enrollment for open studio days will open one week prior.
Price does not include open studio time, clay or tools. If you would like us to provide you with a bag of clay and / or a pottery toolkit, those can be purchased now or on our Supplies Page at any point in time and we will have them ready for you on your first day.
